BSCC Art Project

BSCC is making its website available to Palau artists who would like to showcase their work.

In 2017, BSCC launched our submarine fiber optic cable with a ceremony for official guests at the National Museum.  Attendees included President Tommy Remengesau Jr., cabinet ministers, legislators, judges and community leaders.  As part of the festivities attendees were provided t-shirts designed specifically for the occasion.

The front of the shirts contained the tagline ‘Lighting Up Palau’ and the official date the network became ready for service, December 7, 2017.  ‘Lighting Up’ is a term of art in the telecoms business signifying the transmission of light waves along optical fibers; in other words, the local network was officially ‘lit up’ on December 7, 2017.

The back of the shirts displayed a BSCC logo.  The image is unique and further enhanced by the fact a number of the textiles were hand-painted in a variety of ways by the designer and artist Jason Shaw.  Jason is our first featured artist.

Palau artists who want to add their work here should contact BSCC CEO Robin Russell by email robin@belaucable.com

Jason Shaw – BSCC Ready for Service Logo

Jason applied for and received a Palau foreign investment permit for a design and print business in 2017.  He opened a small business called Piece where he customised prints for corporate events, art pieces for hotels and printed t-shirts for the tourists.  His love of scuba diving and the islands is reflected in his designs.
